In recent years it has already become apparent that the developers of Cloud Imperium Games with Star Citizen and the financing campaign around the space simulations scored a bullseye.
This is underpinned by the announcement that the crowdfunding campaign launched in 2012 has now generated more than 375 million US dollars. In June of last year, this value was still at 300 million US dollars. Thus, Cloud Imperium Games needed about three quarters of a year to raise another 50 million US dollars for the development of Star Citizen.
With Star Citizen, the creative minds at Cloud Imperium Games are pursuing nothing less than the goal of creating a realistic next-generation space simulation and offering players a world in which they can explore the galaxy, interact with other users, and live their own virtual lives. In addition to the online multiplayer component, a single-player mode is also in development, which will be launched under the name Squadron 42.
Even though Star Citizen has been in development for several years, it is still up in the air when the final version will be released.
