Stardew Valley - 1.6 Update

Stardew Valley: A Look at the 1.6 Update

Stardew Valley may be my favorite game of all time, with its unmatched cozy vibes and top-notch, comforting aesthetics. The art is brilliant, the writing is great, and I always find myself never wanting to leave the game's little town. One of the most exciting things about Stardew Valley is the fact that ConcernedApe, the sole creator and developer of the game, often releases updates with new content.

With the 1.6 update on the horizon, he has just given us a taste of some of its features. While we didn't know much about what to expect before, especially because it initially sounded quite small, we now definitely know more and it is definitely anything but a small update.

What does the 1.6 update bring us?

ConcernedApe is no stranger to mysterious revelations. His latest post is all about 1.6 and reads like a "Content Sneak Peek". The developer makes it clear that there is "no release date yet", but the provided information is absolutely exciting.

New content and features

  • New festival: Starting with a new major festival and two new mini-festivals, the list of upcoming content has a lot to offer.
  • Expanded abilities: The developer goes on to reveal new content for the late game, saying it "expands each of the skill areas".
  • New items and crafting recipes: He also mentions in the sneak peek post that new items and crafting recipes are in the works, which likely means new achievements.
  • Incentive for Joja playthrough: ConcernedApe also adds an incentive to start a Joja playthrough and hints at new endgame quest alternatives.
  • Hundreds of new dialogue lines: In addition to these quests, there are over a hundred new dialogue lines and fancy winter outfits for villagers.

More multiplayer and a new farm layout

It gets even better. Billboard requests will offer a new type of reward. Additionally, you can complete them with four additional players as the multiplayer limit increases to eight. The developer also reveals a brand new farm layout (I'm screaming), new secrets, and a variety of other "small additions and adjustments".

What can we do in the meantime?
