Starfield Beta - All the latest features and how you can test them now

The Starfield Beta launches on Steam

Highly anticipated and finally here - the Starfield Beta is now available for all Steam PC players! This gives you the opportunity to try out the upcoming update for Starfield in a separate beta version before it goes live for all Xbox and PC players. Are you excited? Then join in!

How to sign up for the Starfield Beta

If you want to be part of the Starfield Beta, just follow these instructions:

  1. Open your Steam library and navigate to Starfield
  2. Right-click on "Starfield" and select "Properties"
  3. In the new Properties pop-up window, select "Betas"
  4. In the Beta drop-down menu, select "[beta]" to join
  5. Wait for the app to download the new build and launch

But be careful: The Starfield Beta is a separate version of the game and requires a separate download. You can continue with your latest save file, but saves created in the Beta will only work in the live game once the update is live.

The Highlights of the Update

You're probably wondering: What can I expect in the Beta? Here are the most exciting new features:

Nvidia DLSS Support

The update introduces Nvidia DLSS support for our PC players. With compatible Nvidia graphics cards, you can now take advantage of DLSS Super Resolution, Deep Learning Anti-Aliasing (DLAA), Nvidia Reflex Low Latency, and DLSS Frame Generation.

Mealtime in Starfield!

By popular demand, we have added the ability to consume found food and drinks immediately. You can enjoy them right away or save them for later. The choice is yours.

Bug Fixes and Improvements

In addition to these great features, we have also fixed some bugs and made improvements:

  • Various memory issues and leaks have been fixed.
  • GPU performance optimizations have been added, which are particularly noticeable on more powerful cards.
  • Improved renderer threading model for optimized CPU usage.
  • The ability to eat placed food in the game has been added.
  • Stealth has been made slightly more forgiving.
  • Issues with ambient occlusion rendering in ultrawide resolutions have been fixed.
  • The ability to adjust brightness and contrast in the display settings menu has been added.

In addition, rare issues with various quests that could block player progress have been fixed. With all these new features, nothing stands in the way of an even better gaming experience in Starfield. Have fun trying it out!
