Starfield - IGN's Exclusive Gameplay Experience - The Latest Information and Impressions on the Space RPG

IGN had one hour of access to Starfield

During the recent Starfield Direct presentation, an interesting piece of news was almost overlooked: Ryan McCaffrey from IGN was given the opportunity to test the upcoming space RPG Starfield for an hour. This was the second time that someone outside of Bethesda was able to try out the game and share their impressions with the public.

McCaffrey played on an Xbox Series X and emphasized that one hour was hardly enough to fully grasp the true depth of the game. He started with the beginning of the game and later tried out other save files. The enormous size of Starfield, which was highlighted in the presentation, was also evident in the gameplay itself.

Mixture of No Man's Sky and Classic Bethesda RPG

Ryan McCaffrey described Starfield as a successful combination of No Man's Sky and a classic Bethesda RPG. The game will be a purely single-player experience, without any multiplayer or co-op modes. Instead, there are numerous side activities and missions that can be explored in addition to the main story.

New Atlantis - A Huge City Full of Possibilities

For example, the city of New Atlantis is enormous and offers countless quests as well as a subway-like transportation system. Here, players can spend hours and discover something new every time.

Ship Interactions and Magic-like Abilities

In the game, there are various ways to interact with ships: you can hail them or even board them. Boarding, for example, leads to fights on cargo ships that can be taken over. In addition, interesting backstories for the characters as well as magic-like abilities have been confirmed in the game.

Armor Looting: A Controversial Topic

Some players had expressed concerns that in Starfield, you cannot loot the armor of defeated enemies - an element that was present in previous Bethesda games. In McCaffrey's gameplay impressions, however, there were scenes where this was possible. It remains unclear whether this depends on certain conditions or whether different game versions were shown.

Promising Impressions and Growing Anticipation

Overall, the impressions of Starfield are promising and many players are looking forward to the game, which will be released in just over two months.
