Steam Releases October 2020 - from blockbusters to sequels to indie gems, there's something for everyone

When it gets cold outside, it gets hot in the Gaming Cave. Because October is traditionally one of the biggest months for gaming of the year. Even on the videogame platform Steam you can expect a top-notch offer in October 2020. From new blockbusters to long-awaited sequels to indie pearls, everything is included.

The blockbusters on Steam in October 2020

The publisher Electronic Arts (EA) is in the lead when it comes to blockbusters. Star Wars Squadrons was released on October 2, 2020. In the multiplayer space fighter game, the New Republic fights the still strong Galactic Empire after the destruction of the Death Star. So Star Wars Squadron takes place after Star Wars Episode VI. You can get into the cockpit as a pilot of the Empire or the Republic and experience space battles with up to ten other players. EA has learned from the past and also delivers an additional single-player campaign this time. So everyone can take part in the Star Wars fever.

All football fans are especially looking forward to October 9, 2020. FIFA 21, the new installment of the popular football simulation by EA, will finally be released then. The career mode has been equipped with new improvements as usual. A street football mode for players who like it a little rougher rounds off the package. And in the FIFA Ultimate Team mode, you create your own team of current and former football stars.

Sequels, Spin Offs and Indies galore

Fans of the strategy game series The Escapists by British video game developer Team17 can look forward to the spin-off survival game The Survivalists on October 9th, 2020 as well. You will have to find your way around and survive many dangers on a deserted island, either alone or as part of a team of up to four players. The goal is to build a new home. An interesting feature will allow you to tame the numerous apes on the island and train them for tasks.

The psychological horror game Remothered will go into its second round on October 13th, 2020, in the tradition of horror classics such as Clock Tower and Silent Hill. The sequel to the horror hit of 2018 is called Remothered: Broken Porcelain. More plot, new gameplay features and a creepy atmosphere promise a very personal fight for survival again. On October 20th, 2020, the Swedish studio Frictional Games, known for the horror game SOMA, will strike the same chord. The third part of the survival horror series Amnesia will be released then. In Amnesia: Rebirth you wake up at a deserted place and can't remember anything. You will only survive if you uncover the secrets of your own past.

A special highlight could be the hack and slash cyberpunk game Ghostrunner, which will be released on October 27th, 2020. In a dark future there is only one chaotic city in a huge tower left. As an unknown hero you have to fight your way from bottom to top, armed with nothing but your sword. The one hit one kill gameplay of Ghostrunner means that you can kill any opponent with one blow. But the opponents can also kill you immediately if you make a mistake. Especially fast-paced action is guaranteed.
