Stray Gods - Everything about the Release

Stray Gods - Everything about the Release

Why the Delay?

It's the end of 2020 all over again. Back then, many game developers shifted their release dates to avoid being overshadowed by the upcoming giant, Cyberpunk 2077. And now, it's happening again. This time, however, it's Stray Gods, the music RPG by Summerfall Studios, that is pushing back its release from August 3rd to August 10th. The reason? The studio wants to steer clear of the highly anticipated Baldur's Gate 3.

A Smart Move?

The announcement is unusually honest. Rarely does a studio admit to consciously wanting to avoid a bigger game. But in this case, the decision seems sensible and well thought out.

Space for Stray Gods

According to Summerfall Studios, there will be plenty of space for everyone to test Stray Gods upon its release. The studio emphasizes that it also wants to give its fans room to properly celebrate the game.

Avoiding Competition

However, the delay has another reason: the team is consciously avoiding competition with Baldur's Gate 3 - a highly anticipated game (also by the Summerfall Studios team!).

Baldur's Gate 3 and Starfield

What makes the situation even more complicated (and somewhat amusing) is the fact that Baldur's Gate 3 has also changed its release date to avoid Bethesda's upcoming sci-fi RPG, Starfield. So, it goes like this: Baldur's Gate 3 is stepping aside for Starfield, and Stray Gods is stepping aside for Baldur's Gate 3. An interesting chain reaction in the gaming cosmos!

Future for Stray Gods?

Will Stray Gods now make way for someone else? We can only wait and hope that the game will be well received despite the delay. If you want to secure Stray Gods or other games, check out our Steam Keys page!
