New trailer introduces Captain Boomerang
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has released a new trailer that surprisingly features very few boomerangs. The character video focuses on the Australian villain and co-protagonist, Captain Boomerang. However, this fresh addition to the world of superhero games from Batman Arkham developers, Rocksteady, disappointingly showcases very few actual boomerangs.
The anti-superhero game Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is set to launch early next year, and Warner Bros Games has unveiled a trailer showcasing the game's third playable villain. The hard-drinking Australian, Captain Boomerang, takes center stage in this new footage. As in previous videos, he is introduced by the leader of the Suicide Squad and professional head-buster, Amanda Waller.
Boomerang's Shortage
There's no doubt that he cleans up nicely in the trailer. Like Harley Quinn and Deadshot, he's not a metahuman, just highly skilled. But there's a disappointing lack of boomerangs. Granted, the trailer is only 44 seconds long, but most of the time he just shoots enemies in the face with controlled explosives. He throws one boomerang Krull-style, and that's it. Come on, Rocksteady Studios, it's literally in his name.
It's somewhat embarrassing when a character's trademark is downgraded to a minor ability. The game is still a few months away, and I have doubts about wanting to play as him. Even with weapons, King Shark is still the force you'd expect him to be. Harley Quinn is the manic threat she always was, and weapons are Deadshot's thing. But Captain Boomerang hardly uses his boomerang?
Hopefully, the full game Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will offer more for Captain Boomerang than the trailer, and we'll see more of his significant throwing weapon in action.
Final Thoughts
Despite the limited number of boomerangs in the trailer, we're still looking forward to the release of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. It remains to be seen how Captain Boomerang will fare in the full game. Stay tuned for more updates.
