The Journey to Amazon Web Services (AWS)
You may have noticed that SWTOR has undergone several changes in recent months, with several initiatives aimed at updating and improving the game and its supporting platforms. One of the significant changes is the migration of the Public Test Server (PTS) to AWS. But that's not all!
The developers have announced that they are now starting to move the live servers to AWS. This is a step towards a more modern and powerful technology to provide you as a player with an even better experience.
Shae Vizla: The New Test Server
To implement this move, a test server called Shae Vizla will be launched. This server will be available to all players in the APAC region from April 3, 2023 and will remain open until April 18, 2023.
During the testing period, you can copy your existing characters to the Shae Vizla test server or create new ones. But be warned: the server will be deleted after the test period!
Why Switch to Cloud-Based Servers?
The migration to AWS is part of SWTOR's strategy to modernize and update the game. This is intended to improve the player experience and optimize the technology used. Overall, AWS offers some advantageous innovations for SWTOR:
