The Syberia series has kept genre fans supplied with fresh point-and-click adventures in recent years, helping to ensure that the once-popular game genre continues to receive new input. The first two parts of the trilogy featuring main character Kate Walker from 2002 and 2004 in particular are very popular and have received a correspondingly positive rating on Steam. Part 3 from 2017, on the other hand, had to struggle with major technical difficulties and was never able to really convince the player base as a result.
With Syberia: The World Before, developer and publisher Microids now wants to build on past successes and restore the series to its former glory. PC players will be able to experience the latest installment in the adventure series on their home computer as early as December 10, while owners of consoles that have not yet been named will have to wait until 2022.
Kate Walker receives support
Unlike in previous installments, this time there is another character at the center of the action in addition to lawyer Kate Walker. While Kate Walker's story is set in 2004, players travel with 17-year-old Dana Roze to 1937. You will explore both Kate's present and Dana's past during the time of the Second World War in Europe, instead of focusing on her career as a musician.
Exceptional locations with a special atmosphere
As in the previous games in the series, Belgian comic book artist Benoît Sokal is once again responsible for the graphical and narrative style of the adventure. In addition to a varied and excitingly staged story with unpredictable twists and turns, he also provides players with atmospheric locations that can be thoroughly investigated in point-and-click fashion.
Once again, challenging puzzle elements and puzzle tasks await you, which have always been an important part of the game series. For the appropriate musical accompaniment to the story, the well-known composer Inon Zur has been recruited, who has already worked on games such as Dragon Age or Fallout.
The Digital Deluxe Edition is for true fans
For all fans who want to experience the full beauty of Syberia: The World Before, in addition to the standard edition, publisher Microids also offers a Digital Deluxe Edition, which is equipped with numerous gimmicks.
