The Callisto Protocol - Glen Schofield's own Dead Space successor

Fans of Dead Space will sit up and take notice when they read the name Glen Schofield. The American video game developer is credited with creating the 2008 survival horror hit. With its intense gameplay and some of the most terrifying monsters the survival horror genre has ever seen, Dead Space has written video game history.

Two sequels followed without Schofield's direct involvement. However, Dead Space 3 failed to live up to expectations when it was released in 2013. That was the end of the series.

Spiritual Successor to Dead Space

Now Glen Schofield is back as head of the video game team at Striking Distance Studios with the announcement of The Callisto Protocol. In it, you play the role of an inmate of the Black Iron space prison in the year 2320. An alien attack gives you a chance to escape if you can survive the hordes of terrifying creatures raging on the space station.

A space station overrun by nightmare creatures, navigated by a lone warrior - science fiction meets monster horror. This sounds like an unofficial successor to Dead Space. Schofield, Striking Distance Studios, and newly won distribution partner Skybound Games make no secret that The Callisto Protocol is meant to revive the feeling of Dead Space horror, even though there is no direct connection between the titles outside of inspiration.

Will The Callisto Protocol be the most terrifying horror game of all time?

That is at least the stated goal of Glen Schofield. You'll have to wait until 2022 to find out if he and his team succeed. That's when The Callisto Protocol will be released, and you can snag the best deals at Keyfuchs.
