In an interview at Gamescom 2022, developer TrueTrophies revealed new details about The Callisto Protocol. There will be updates for a year after release, and there has already been talk of a possible DLC.
A new gaming universe
The Callisto Protocol development team sees the game as a new franchise and plans to expand the world and story of the game in the future. This can be done either through DLCs or through a sequel. Mark James, CTO of Striking Distance Studios, wanted to leave this completely open.
But he still revealed something. He could imagine that a DLC could also include new game modes. Although the current game is based on a linear story mode, one could expand the game with a side story or the prehistory. In this way, one could also tell the whole story of the prison break, without having to adapt or change the current linear story.
