The Division Heartland: A New Survival PvEvP Game
The Division Heartland is a PvEvP survival extraction shooter that implements the concepts of the Dark Zone in a contaminated middle America scenario. After a year of closed beta testing, Ubisoft's Red Storm team is showing more of its "unique survival PvEvP gameplay" and bringing a special touch to the Dollar Flu in middle America, specifically in Silver Creek.
In The Division Heartland, you help a Division agent named Mackenzie Amber Reed track down her former boss Killian Tower - an agent who betrayed and went rogue on his former colleagues. Your goal is to find out why Tower broke ranks, murdered the unit he commanded, and began building an army of Reapers in Silver Creek.
Survival-PvEvP Gameplay and Contamination
Heartland is described as a "Survival-PvEvP game," meaning you'll be trying to take down AI strongholds and factions while keeping an eye on other human players who may have their sights set on your valuable loot. In addition to hostile hordes, you'll also have to contend with a "deadly and unpredictable contamination."
The infection manifests in changing zones marked by smoky orange lines on the ground, indicating which areas are the most dangerous. You can use filters to venture into these areas and grab loot that other players may be avoiding. However, the filters don't last long, so move quickly!
Class Choice and Cross-Game Rewards
In The Division Heartland, you can choose from three different classes - Weapons Expert, Medic, and Specialist. Each class has its own special abilities and tools. By playing The Division Heartland, you'll also earn cross-game rewards that you can transfer to the other Division games.
Closed Beta Testing and Sign-Up
The closed beta testing for The Division Heartland is still ongoing. If you want a chance to participate in the tests, you can sign up on the official website. If you're selected, you'll receive five invitations to bring a team of trusted friends along.
