The King of Dragons Threatens Skyrim
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the fifth installment in the long-running role-playing game series, saw the light of day in 2011. The action picks up 200 years after the events of its predecessor, Oblivion, and transports players to the province of Skyrim, located in the north of Cyrodiil. The game was developed by Bethesda Game Studios, the team behind the previous Elder Elder-Scrolls adventures, as well as the post-apocalyptic action role-playing games Fallout.
With its open world and varied quests, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is primarily aimed at fans of the role-playing genre. Thanks to the dynamically adjustable difficulty level, both long-time fans of the genre and complete newcomers are guaranteed to have a good time. The story revolves around the titular region of Skyrim, which is threatened by a dark force. For centuries, the prophecy of the return of the dragons was ignored - with fatal consequences.
In The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, none other than the King of Dragons returns with Alduin. After successfully banishing him from humans thousands of years ago, he is now plotting revenge and is about to destroy Skyrim completely. Players take on the role of a Dragonborn, who has the ability to defeat and banish the otherwise immortal dragons from the world. As is typical of the series, different races with individual characteristics and strengths, such as humans, Nords, Orcs or Elves, await the player. New to Skyrim is the individual character development, in which skills are improved through mere use. In this way, it is possible to create an individual character and develop it freely outside of class constraints.
In terms of gameplay, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim scores points above all with its open game world, which hides numerous secrets and optional missions that aspiring adventurers can pursue outside of the main story. After the release, the role-playing game was equipped with various downloadable expansions, some of which brought completely new features. While players could join a vampire order in Dawnguard, for example, and lead a life as a bloodsucker, Dragonborn allowed them to explore the homeland of the Dark Elves on the island of Solstheim or ride dragons.
Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn are all included in the VR version and the Special and Legendary editions of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
