The Walking Dead: Destinies - A New Chapter in the Zombie Universe

A new challenger enters the arena

2023 is a year full of highs and lows for PC gamers. While we can look forward to hits like Baldur's Gate 3, Alan Wake 2, and Diablo 4, there are also some disappointments. One of them could be The Walking Dead: Destinies, the latest game from GameMill Entertainment. Despite the strong license of The Walking Dead behind it, it seems unlikely that this game will soon make it onto a list of the best zombie games.

The premise of The Walking Dead: Destinies

The Walking Dead: Destinies offers an interesting premise. You have the opportunity to change the course of The Walking Dead story. You follow in the footsteps of Rick Grimes and must decide whether to make the same decisions or change his fate and that of his friends and enemies. Along the way, you must fight through walkers and search for ammunition and resources to survive. However, despite this exciting idea, the game seems to disappoint in its execution.

Initial Reactions to The Walking Dead: Destinies

The game was released on consoles on November 17, with the Steam version set to follow on December 1. However, there are already numerous online videos pointing out significant issues. It seems unlikely that these can be fixed in the two weeks leading up to the Steam release.

The Quality of The Walking Dead: Destinies

The Walking Dead: Destinies starts off as an average third-person action-adventure game, but it is plagued with many errors and glitches. The production values are far below what one would expect from such an established and successful franchise like The Walking Dead.

Outlook

Despite the initial negative reactions, The Walking Dead: Destinies may still be of interest to some fans of the series. You can take a closer look at it on Steam starting from December 1 or add it to your wishlist.

Although expectations for The Walking Dead: Destinies were high due to the strong license behind it, the game seems to fall short. However, who knows, GameMill Entertainment might still surprise us with some improvements in the coming weeks.
