Post-apocalyptic loot shooter from Massive Entertainment

With Tom Clancy's The Division 2, Ubisoft presented the second installment of the popular loot shooter series from the Tom Clancy universe in 2019. The Division 2 was developed by Massive Entertainment - also known for World in Conflict and Far Cry 3. The French electronics giant Ubisoft is once again the publisher. The second part of the Division series was released for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

The popular genre of loot shooters was supplemented by another hit with Tom Clancy's The Division in 2016. Despite a rather reserved reception among critics, the first part generated over 330 million dollars. The logical consequence was the continuation Tom Clancy's The Division 2, which debuted internationally in March 2019. Like its predecessor The Division, the sequel relies on the Snowdrop Engine, which was also used in well-known Ubisoft titles such as Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle (2017) and South Park: The Fractured but Whole (2017).

The Division 2's apocalyptic scenario transports you to collapsing Washington. Several militant factions vie for power in the American capital - including the True Sons, the Hyenas, the Outcasts, and the Black Tusks. The Division agents are called in to prevent the chaos. The Division 2 builds on the predecessor's gameplay principle - and expands it with new features. In addition to the familiar tactical battles and collecting extraordinary loot, exciting PvP missions in the open world of Washington are at the center of the game experience. The player's own character can be customized with numerous special abilities and equipment options. The return of the popular Darkzone ensures an intense gaming experience.

Year 1 brings four updates

Players could look forward to four content updates for Tom Clancy's The Division 2 in the first year: including the prologue with a battle in D.C., Episode 1 focusing on Washington's suburbs and new events called "Expeditions", Episode 2 at the Pentagon with new missions and the "Technician" specialization, and Episode 3 in Coney Island with new missions, weapons, the "Firewall" specialization, and the introduction of the challenging Hardcore mode. In 2020, the large expansion Warlords of New York was released with about eight hours of new story content, a new map in southern Manhattan, a level cap of 40, and a legendary difficulty level.

Tom Clancy's The Division 2 presents players with a huge open world map leading to Washington. The gameplay mix of the loot shooter from PvP and PvE events is familiar. The seasons provide constant new content with new story missions, quests, items, and specializations. This also makes The Division 2 attractive for fans of the classic loot shooter.

Tom Clancy's The Division 2 was published by Ubisoft. The French electronics company is responsible for a number of international gaming hits. The recurring franchises include Assassin's Creed (since 2007), Rayman (since 1995), Die Siedler (under Ubisoft since 2004), and Watch Dogs (since 2014). Ubisoft is also known for Tom Clancy releases such as Rainbox Six, Ghost Recon, and Splinter Cell.
