Show off what's inside your Steam Deck
Two companies, JSAUX and eXtremeRate, are currently working on transparent modifications for the Steam Deck. These allow you to replace the matte black plastic casing with a transparent one, showing off the inner workings of your portable console.
Various designs for every taste
JSAUX's transparent clamshell boasts a frost-like finish, while eXtremeRate goes for a clearer "plastic-like" finish. Both offer different color options and features to give your Steam Deck a unique look.
JSAUX's Frosty Design
JSAUX's case completely replaces the original black clamshell and only leaves the buttons, joysticks, and triggers in their original color scheme. Additionally, it features extra ventilation holes to improve cooling. The new design will be available in clear ("Krystal"), purple, and brown.
eXtremeRate's Plastic-Like Finish
Unlike JSAUX, eXtremeRate's case features a plastic-like finish with translucent buttons and triggers. The case is available in various transparent options, including an untinted version, a dark-tinted version, and a version with a dark purple surface. Non-transparent options such as purple, black, white, red, as well as wood and carbon fiber patterns are also offered.
A challenge for modding enthusiasts
The new designs are perfect for Steam Deck enthusiasts who want to showcase the inner workings of their console and any modifications they may have made. However, replacing the clamshell is no easy task. For the appropriate Steam Deck accessories, we also have some suggestions.
