The Return of the Centro Livery
Ah, the good old days! For commuters in the West Midlands, the Centro livery was a familiar sight. It was the distinctive branding for public transport in Birmingham and the wider Black Country. And now, it's making a comeback on the tracks of Train Sim World 4. We're talking about the new Centro Regional Railways BR Class 323 Add-on, set to be released on December 14th.
The story behind the livery
The Centro brand was introduced in 1990, as the railways moved away from the nationalized British Rail brand and towards privatization. Their logo could be seen at both bus and train stations, as well as on the Class 323 units introduced on the Birmingham Cross-City Line. In 2005, Centro became Network West Midlands, and the color schemes were updated. Last year, the current operator, West Midlands Railways, decided to reintroduce the Centro livery on one of its Class 323 units: No. 323221.
What Does the New Add-on Bring?
The Centro Regional Railways BR Class 323 add-on brings back the Centro livery to the current Class 323. The green, blue, and yellow tones, although reminiscent of the classic livery, are implemented in their current form as seen on 323221.
Additional Features
But the add-on doesn't just bring a new (old) livery. There are also a number of additional features and updates in this version of the Class 323:
- An interactive stabling tail lamp under the driver's seat
- Updated Train Sim World 4 rain effects on the windshield
- A switchable 'Hunslet the Bear' figure in the cab!
Five New Scenarios and More Updates
But that's not all! Five new scenarios will be added as part of this add-on to the Birmingham Cross-City route. And there are also some minor updates and improvements to the West Midlands Railway Class 323, such as fixed PIS displays and the usable secondman seat.
Availability
The Centro Regional Railways BR Class 323 add-on will be available from December 14th for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Epic Games Store, and Steam. To use the add-on and its scenarios, Train Sim World 4 and the Train Sim World Compatible: Birmingham Cross-City Line Route add-on are required.
So, train drivers, get ready for a nostalgic journey and relive the good old days!
