Insider information provides us with data on the development of two new Far Cry games at Ubisoft. What is currently known about them can be found here.
Admittedly, the information we have on the two games in development at Ubisoft is very sparse. Originally it was supposed to be a single game, but the developer decided to develop two separate games. Far Cry 7 is likely to be a single-player experience and the other a pure multiplayer title. Internally, Far Cry 7 has been given the project name Blackbird, Far Cry Multiplayer is running under the name Project Maverick. It is assumed that both projects are strongly influenced by Ubisoft Montreal. The rare details of Far Cry Multiplayer tell us that the game is set in the wilderness of Alaska and will remind more of survival than a shooter. A similar setting is also expected for Far Cry 7.
Since these are leaks that came into circulation in a very early development phase of both games, caution is advised. The planned release date is currently autumn 2025 and this alone illustrates the early stage of the games. Ubisoft itself does not comment on any rumors about the two projects.
