Starfield - What Skyrim and Fallout reveal about the upcoming updates

Starfield's Stellar Rise in the Gaming Universe

Welcome aboard, space adventurer! Strap in as we navigate through the infinite universe of Bethesda's latest open-world role-playing game, Starfield. Despite some turbulence, Starfield has introduced some exciting updates. But how does it compare to legendary Bethesda games like Skyrim and Fallout? Let's find out!

There's no doubt that Starfield is a massive game. It brings to life the dream of a space-faring adventurer - but this massive scope also comes with its own set of issues. Bugs, oversights, and other problems have affected the gameplay experience. And to overcome these, Starfield could use a larger update.

Comparison of Starfield's Update Schedule with Skyrim & Fallout 4

Two months after its release, Starfield has yet to receive a substantial update. In comparison, both Skyrim and Fallout 4 had already released two significant patches within a similar timeframe. Furthermore, Starfield is lacking some quality-of-life features that open-world RPGs typically offer to enhance the player experience. So yes, it seems like we'll have to be a bit patient.

Although a DLC expansion for Starfield titled Shattered Space has already been announced, the larger scope of the game and the slower update schedule may mean that it won't be ready in time for the DLC releases of Skyrim or Fallout 4. Therefore, the wait for Starfield DLCs could be longer than with previous Bethesda games.

Starfield is heading towards a major patch

Despite a modest update schedule, Starfield is likely gearing up for a major update. This should hopefully address most major quest progression bugs and add the long-awaited DLSS support for PC. And while Starfield cannot be directly compared to Fallout 76 as a single-player RPG, this would establish a similar update cycle between the two games.

It is important to note that Starfield has received fewer updates and fixes compared to Skyrim or Fallout 4. This could be attributed to the game's larger scope. With a development time of seven years leading up to its release, a slightly slower update schedule is to be expected.

Nevertheless, Starfield remains a game with a vast scope and a significant number of issues. But who knows? Perhaps the next major update is already in the works. So stay tuned!
