Valheim Public Test Branch
The latest update for Valheim is now available on the public test branch. We would like to give you an overview of the changes and new content. However, please note that this version may be unstable and may still contain errors. To participate in the public test, follow the instructions for Steam or Microsoft/PC Game Pass.
New Content and Improvements
The current update includes some exciting new features, including a new NPC, new locations, world modifiers, and further improvements to the game:
- New NPC: Hildir the Trader
- New locations
- Added world modifiers
- 2 new crafting expansions
- New hairstyles and beard styles
- New items
In addition, there are some further adjustments and improvements that aim to optimize the gaming experience:
- Hair and beards are now visible when helmets are equipped
- Various visual improvements
- Added quick stack button
- Added manual adjustment when building

Accessing the Public Test Branch
To access the public test branch of Valheim, different steps are required depending on your platform. For Steam users, right-click on Valheim in your library, select "Properties," and in the new window under "Betas," enter the code "yesimadebackups." The test branch should then be available.
If you use Microsoft/PC Game Pass, start the Xbox Insider Hub app, navigate to "Previews," and search for "Valheim Public Test." Click "Join" and wait for registration to complete. You will then be redirected to the store to install the "Valheim Public Test."
Feedback and Saving Game Progress
The developers of Valheim would like to receive your feedback on the public test. Leave your opinion in the corresponding Discord channel or Steam forum. However, be considerate of other players who want to avoid spoilers.
Before playing the public test branch, be sure to make backups of your game progress to avoid any potential issues.

The detailed patch notes provide additional information on the new content and improvements, including:
- Additional dungeons, mini-bosses, fireworks, clothing, and hairstyles
- New music tracks, furniture, and materials
- Bug fixes and improvements for animations, fire effects, commands, and user interface
- Quality of life improvements such as a quick stack button for placing items in containers or precise building with manual snapping selection
- Expanded building and upgrading ranges for workbenches
