VirtuaVerse - Dystopian future vision in retro design

A future in which an artificial intelligence has prevailed and rules over all others. A world overshadowed by a state-controlled, virtual reality. A society in which the personal data of each individual is processed to optimize their perception and experiences. And you take on the role of a protagonist who is absolutely against this system. This scenario awaits you in the adventure cyberpunk game VirtuaVerse.

In VirtuaVerse you play an outsider who makes a living as a smuggler of altered hardware and cracked software and can escape the permanent augmented reality of the state thanks to a special headset. One morning he realizes that his girlfriend is gone and his headset is broken. From now on you travel with him to find his girlfriend. On the way you will meet a group of hackers, a guild of AVR technomancers and many other interesting people.

VirtuaVerse is a classic adventure game in which you have to find clues and collect and combine items. On the streets you meet shady characters with whom you talk to get information. You control your character retromatically by Point'n'Click through the environment. Another special feature is the graphics. These come in the low-resolution pixel art style and are reminiscent of the games of the 80s. Visually and acoustically, the game transports you into a dystopian cyberpunk world. You will encounter a lot of technology and be accompanied by electronic beats.

VirtuaVerse is the product of Theta Division Games, a team of artists from different backgrounds. These include the band MASTER BOOT RECORD, who created the game's sound, and Valenberg, the pixel artist responsible for the graphics. VirtuaVerse is the first game the team has released in this configuration. The release date is May 12, 2020, and it is currently only available on PC.

Players from the 80s can indulge in nostalgic memories thanks to the pixel art design and point-and-click controls. But younger players who enjoy retro adventure games will also get their money's worth with VirtuaVerse. You should definitely be a fan of science fiction or dystopian cyberpunk atmosphere. Artificial intelligence, technology and a dark portrayal of the future are the main themes of the story, with the permanent state-controlled augmented reality being the main element.
