Warhammer 40K: Boltgun – The Return of Boomer Shooter Style

The release date for Warhammer 40k Boltgun has been confirmed: the game will be released on May 23, 2023, on PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The confirmation was made in a gameplay trailer released on April 11, 2023.

Warhammer 40K Boltgun is a tribute to the boomer shooter style of games in the Warhammer 40k universe and is set to be released soon. The game was developed by the team at Auroch Digital and is aimed at both new and old fans of the Warhammer universe. The personal tone of the original text has been preserved, as well as the HTML tags.

A story full of chaos and space marines

In Warhammer 40k Boltgun, you play as a space marine fighting against the Chaos demons and Chaos Space Marines. Auroch Digital has not revealed many details about the plot, but based on the trailers, it seems that most of the action takes place in enemy bases. The objective may be to fight against the agents of Chaos and weaken their troops, who may pose a threat to the Emperor of Mankind.

The background story of the Warhammer universe may seem intimidating to newcomers, but essentially it revolves around the Emperor of Mankind, the immortal ruler of humanity and many worlds conquered by his armies. His forces include the Space Marines or Adeptus Astartes, genetically modified super soldiers who are regarded as angels serving the God-Emperor in many cultures.

The fast-paced gameplay of Warhammer 40k Boltgun

The gameplay of Warhammer 40k Boltgun is fast and action-packed, reminiscent of Doom. As a space marine, you can either shoot your enemies or engage in close combat with your chainsword. Your arsenal grows as you progress through the game, and it's all about choosing the right weapon for each confrontation.

So far, a shotgun, a relic bolter, a pulse rifle, and of course, the chainsword are known. The space marine you play as is also very resilient and can take a lot of damage. There is no progression mechanic like in modern games, so you don't have to worry about leveling up skills or unlocking new passive abilities for your weapons. The level design also resembles boomer shooter games with secrets, equipment, and ammunition to find. However, the Auroch Digital team has promised to give a modern touch to the retro shooter style of the classic Doom games by id Software.
