Welcome to the Carnival
"The seedy facade is bright and enticing, promising entertainment and illicit distractions, but beneath the flashy exterior, it is actually as vile and pathetic as the rumors suggest... maybe even worse."
Allow me to introduce you to the HABZONE HL70-04, commonly known as "The Carnival". The work on the Carnival began with the search for a mood and backstory that sets it apart from what has been seen in Darktide so far, while remaining true to the authentic Warhammer 40,000 experience and at the same time being something one would expect in a dark fantasy world of a Hive City.
What to Expect in the Carnival?
The Carnival is essentially a massive slum. Overpopulated, densely packed, and characterized by poverty and terrible conditions. As a result, it is half lawless. The shady nature of the place makes it an infamous entertainment district: that's its allure. It's the place you go for a brief escape and indulgence. It's attractively, vividly, and dirtily decadent, promising transgressive thrills.
Traitor's Guard vs Tertium
The Traitor's Guard has infiltrated and established defensive lines, and intelligence suggests they have something planned that could harm Tertium's war efforts. What is their ultimate interest in this place, and can we turn the tide in our favor? That's largely for you to discover as the developers roll out the missions one by one.
Combat Experience and Playstyle
Since the release of Darktide, the developers have learned a lot about combat (which has evolved itself) and what is fun and enables interesting encounters. Our ambition has always been for all classes, playstyles, and loadouts to have their chance to shine. With the Carnival, they have strived to refine that even further, and they are excited to hear about your experiences with this latest chapter in the history of Darktide.
