The Wasteland on Ice - Wasteland 3 Gets Release Date
In mid-November, Microsoft used its own "XO19" event in London to present various, previously unannounced titles. But there were also concrete details about some games that dedicated fans and curious gaming friends have long had on their radar - such as the third part of the popular Wasteland series from inXile Entertainment.
From May 19, 2020, daring squads will be able to find their way into the wasteland again to bring a touch of order to a shattered society. Troops of up to six rangers will once again be commanded from an isometric perspective and this time have to fight their way through the snow-covered remains of Colorado. They should be motivated by a "deep and engaging story" that relies on a new dialogue system with fully voiced characters.

What's new in Wasteland 3
After the successful genre revival in the form of Wasteland 2 (released in 2014), the developers, led by series creator Brian Fargo, also promise that players will be confronted with "difficult moral decisions" that will have a direct impact on the plot and game world. You can go on an adventure solo or co-operatively with other people.
In order to face the diverse challenges of the frosty Colorado, keen Rangers can also rely on an further developed combat system in addition to their own vehicle: The tactical, turn-based principle of the predecessors will be retained to the great relief of the veterans, but is said to be "more fluid" than before. Since both bitter opponents and unknown dangers lurk in the post-apocalyptic landscape, more control sounds only fair!
Crowdfunding again for financing
As was the case with the direct predecessor, inXile Entertainment once again relied on crowdfunding for Wasteland 3; this time Fig provided the financial basis. Within one month, the project was able to raise a proud 3 million US dollars! With the help of numerous developers who were also involved in Torment: Tides of Numenera (released in 2017), Wasteland 3 has been in development since 2016.
However, the fact that the studio was bought by Microsoft in November 2018 does not change the supplied platforms: Wasteland 3 will be released on May 19, 2020, for PC, Mac and Linux, as well as Xbox One and Playstation 4.
