In June 2019 at E3, it finally happened: Ubisoft announced the third installment of the open-world action-adventure Watch Dogs. With Watch Dogs Legion, Ubisoft Toronto is now presenting a completely new gameplay experience.
This time the action takes place in a fictional future version of historic London. The mysterious organization Zero-Day hangs a Parliament attack on the hacker group DedSec. You now have to recruit new members from the underground to uncover the conspiracy and stop the total surveillance of London.
One and a half years after the first announcement, the release of Watch Dogs Legion is finally upon us. On October 29, 2020, it will be released first for Playstation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia and Microsoft Windows. On November 10, 2020, the release for Xbox Series X and S will follow, and on November 12, 2020, for Playstation 5.
What we know about Watch Dogs Legion
Ubisoft promises a revolutionary gameplay with Watch Dogs Legion. Every non-player character can be recruited and further developed with skills, weapons and equipment. If you turn on the optional permadeath mode, these members can also die at any time. This creates a story that is supposed to adapt to your methods, successes and failures.
It has also become known that Watch Dogs Legion can also be played offline. Certain online functions are then not available to you. However, these are more cosmetic in nature, such as the exchange of photos. Fans of Cross-Play can also look forward to it. Ubisoft plans to introduce system-wide gaming with the first annual update.
Ubisoft does not want to completely do away with microtransactions. You can buy credits for real money in a VIP shop to get unique weapons and outfits. However, there are also supposed to be plenty of items that can be purchased with the in-game currency ETO. And you earn that with missions and side activities. No gamer who does not want to use microtransactions should experience any disadvantages.
Multiplayer, New Game+ and Season Pass
A multiplayer mode with co-op for up to four players is coming in December 2020. The New Game+ function is supposed to be available from early 2021. Both features will be free. However, you will need the Season Pass for future story expansions. But the Season Pass is worth it: In addition to new DedSec missions in London, the characters Aiden Pearce from the first Watch Dogs and Wrench from Watch Dogs 2 will also get new story chapters. There is even a side mission with an Assassin's Creed crossover in the works.
