Wizards of the Coast - OGL announcement withdrawn

The long-awaited announcement of the new Dungeons & Dragons Open Game License was supposed to come out yesterday afternoon. However, since a fan campaign against the planned changes has been launched, the company has withdrawn the announcement.

A Fan Movement

This is the second time that Dungeons & Dragons publisher Wizards of the Coast has cancelled a announcement at short notice. After a draft of a document containing the planned changes leaked a short while ago, a fan movement has formed to oppose it.

In order to respond to this - according to insider information from the company itself - the planned announcement, which was supposed to take place yesterday at 3 p.m. on Twitch in a live broadcast, was put on hold. The company now wants to critically engage with the fans' points and opinions. This could take some time, but it's a good sign towards the fan base.

So far it is unclear when Wizards of the Coast will release the much-anticipated new OGL - and what its final content will be.
