New content for World of Warcraft
Blizzard Entertainment is not known for resting on their laurels, especially when it comes to their flagship game, World of Warcraft. No, my friends, Blizzard has big plans and has unveiled a roadmap all the way to 2024. Yes, you heard that right - until 2024!
Luckily for us, this plan includes plenty of new content for both the standard version of the game and the Classic servers. Holly Longdale, the executive producer of the game, has given us a first look at what we can expect in the coming years.
Updates and expansions on the horizon
Firstly, there will be three more content updates for the current expansion, "Dragonflight". But hold on! Before you wonder if they will continue the usual three-chapter structure with a raid at the end of each chapter, let me enlighten you: they won't. Instead, we will experience the aftermath of the story.
And that's not all. Patch 10.2.6 is marked with a cheeky pirate skull. This suggests that we can expect some sea monsters in the near future! Additionally, there will be updates to the existing dungeons and outdoor content of "Dragonflight".
The Future of World of Warcraft
In spring and summer 2024, you will have the opportunity to test the upcoming expansion, "The War Within." Blizzard has worked hard to make this expansion the start of a story that will span the next three expansions. Yes, you heard that right - three more expansions are planned: "The War Within," "Midnight," and "The Last Titan."
But the Classic version of World of Warcraft is not being neglected either. "Cataclysm Classic" is on its way, but it won't just be a re-release of the original. There is already a hardcore mode where your character is permanently lost upon death (yes, really, forever!). A new "Self-Found" mode will also prevent players from receiving equipment or assistance from allies.
Conclusion
Frankly, it seems that Blizzard is interested in offering continuous updates for both versions of its popular MMO. Although "Cataclysm" was not the most popular expansion, it appears that the new changes to the "Classic" modes have helped revive player interest. We'll have to wait and see how the rest of "Dragonflight" unfolds and how it sets the stage for the upcoming "The War Within."
So, get ready to redeem your World of Warcraft keys and embark on new adventures in Azeroth. The future looks bright!
