XDefiant Closed Beta: An Overview

The XDefiant Closed Beta is finally here, bringing us an action-packed gaming experience with four playable factions, 16 unique abilities, five game modes on 14 maps, and 24 weapons with 44 attachments. In this article, we'll give you an overview of the different faction synergies for each mode and share helpful tips to succeed in the Closed Beta.

Arena and Linear Game Modes

The game modes in XDefiant can be roughly divided into two categories: Arena and Linear. In Arena games, the objective is to score more points than the opposing team on symmetrical maps. In contrast, in linear games, one side is on the attack and the other on defense, requiring different tactics.

Factions and their strengths in arena games

Arena games offer three different modes: Domination, Occupy, and Hotshot. In Domination, teams must capture zones and collect points. Factions like the Cleaners and Phantoms are useful here as they specialize in area control and defense. In Occupy mode, there is only one zone to capture that constantly changes location. The Echelons are particularly useful here as they can become almost invisible and surprise opponents. Libertad, on the other hand, provides healing and health regeneration for allies.

The last arena mode is Hotshot. Here, the objective is to collect bounties from killed opponents. Speed is crucial here, so the Echelons' Digital Camo and Intel Suit are advantageous.

Linear game modes: Escort and Zone Control

In the linear modes, there is first Escort. One team must escort a package along a predetermined route while the other team tries to prevent it. Phantom's Blitz Shield can be used here as protection. Zone Control consists of five static zones that must be captured. Here, Phantom's Mag Barrier or Libertad's El Remedio can be useful.

Mastery in XDefiant: Weapons, Equipment, and Abilities

Overall, there are many different strategies and playstyles in XDefiant. Mastery of weapons, equipment, and abilities is the key to victory. Be sure to effectively use the different abilities of your faction and adapt your equipment to the respective game modes.

Beta Rewards and Full Game

The XDefiant Closed Beta ends on April 23, but don't worry: certain rewards that you unlock will be transferred to the full game, which will be released later this year on PlayStation, Xbox, PC via Ubisoft Connect, and Amazon Luna. So, take the opportunity to familiarize yourself with the game and get a head start for the final release.
