XDefiant: Ubisoft's answer to fast-paced online shooters
The free-to-play shooter XDefiant is one of the most interesting upcoming PS5 and Xbox games, promising a fast-paced online shooter experience. It could become one of the best competitive FPS games, as it will apparently be playable at 120fps, provided the hardware supports it.
Prior to the start of the XDefiant open beta, Ubisoft's Executive Producer Mark Rubin confirmed on Twitter that the shooter will have 120fps support and that public tests for this feature will begin soon. To achieve 120fps, players will need a TV that supports 120Hz. The PS5 and Xbox Series X are capable of 120fps at 4K resolution, while the Xbox Series S runs at a resolution of 1440p.
120fps mode for Xbox Series S and monthly map updates
Owners of an Xbox Series S can activate the 120fps mode, although it will not be maintained continuously. Rubin emphasizes that this is the first time that 120fps will be available in a test. The development team will closely monitor feedback and potential issues.
Additionally, it was recently announced that after the launch of XDefiant, a new map will be available every month. Ubisoft is also working on KBM support (keyboard and mouse) for console players with input-based matchmaking to keep the game fair.
Crossplay and optimal player experience
