The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Online Multiplayer thanks to Mod

After almost two years of development, it's finally here: You can now play The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild online with your friends! Thanks to a mod commissioned by content creator PointCrow, you can experience the entire game together or find out who the true master of Hyrule is in PVP mode.

In November 2021, PointCrow promised a reward of $10,000 on Twitter for the creation of the desired mod. On April 4, 2023, the mod was finally officially released and has been delighting fans of the game ever since.

How do I get the multiplayer mod?

To download the mod, you need to join PointCrow's Discord server and click on the "-Mod-Downloads" section. From there, you will be directed to a Google Doc that explains how to install the mod. However, as with all downloads from the internet, you should be cautious and ensure that you only use trusted sources.

Fan reactions and Nintendo's response

It didn't take long for fans to extensively use the mod and share their excitement. A TikTok video even shows 18 players exploring the world of Hyrule together on a single server. However, just a few days after the mod's release, Nintendo issued a copyright infringement notice against PointCrow's YouTube channel. The content creator expressed disappointment in this decision in a tweet and hopes for a swift reversal from Nintendo.
