The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - New details from a leaked commercial

Leaked commercial reveals underground caves

An unfinished live-action TV commercial for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has been leaked, revealing interesting details about the game. In the ad, we see Link in a dark area that he illuminates by shooting an arrow at a tree. Fans speculate that this part of the game takes place in an underground cave. In addition, coordinates on a mini-map are visible, suggesting that this area is deep beneath the earth.

Flame Gleeok returns

In addition to the discovery of the underground caves, the commercial also confirms the return of a recurring boss enemy. The Gleeok will appear in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but with a twist. At the 12-second mark of the trailer, we see a dragon chasing Link in a boss battle. This part of the ad also displays the name of this menacing creature on the Nintendo Switch: "Flame Gleeok". The adjective suggests that there may be other variations of the Gleeok in the game.

The Significance of Flame Gleeok

In previous Zelda games, Gleeok had varying abilities and the number of its heads varied. In the first game, it had two, three, and four heads, while in Oracle of Seasons, it had two heads. Similarly, in Phantom Hourglass, it had two heads and guarded the Ice Temple. From the leaked commercial, it is revealed that in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, it will once again have three heads. This is the first time an adjective has been used to describe an individual Gleeok variant, suggesting that we may see a separate ice-breathing Gleeok in the game.

What Does This Mean for Gameplay?

The discovery of underground caves could mean that we can explore even more in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom than previously thought. This could lead to an even larger game world and provide new opportunities for puzzles and battles. The return of Flame Gleeok also suggests that the game will harken back to previous Zelda adventures and possibly feature other familiar foes.

Release and Anticipation

The excitement for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is already immense, and with the possible introduction of underground cave networks, it will only grow larger. Fortunately, we don't have to wait long as the game will be released on May 12, 2023, for the Switch. So get ready to delve into the depths of Hyrule and engage in epic battles against powerful foes like Flame Gleeok!
