Hamburg-based developer ROCKFISH Games has released an official update on the status of EVERSPACE 2 for Linux. Support for Linux and Steam Deck has been given the highest priority and a natively playable version of EVERSPACE 2 for Linux is at the top of their priority list.
Status of Linux and Steam Deck
The team is currently working a few more weeks on the Windows version before turning to the Linux version. They are "pretty confident" that Linux support will be present at the time of the 1.0 release.
Support for the Steam Deck is also being taken into account, but is more work due to the necessary optimizations and changes to the font size and user interface for the smaller screen. However, since the Steam Deck was not part of the Kickstarter promises, it has a lower priority.
Optimizing the Player Experience
Although EVERSPACE 2 already runs on the Steam Deck, they want to further improve the player experience. The goal is for the player experience on the Steam Deck to be of the highest quality.
ROCKFISH Games confirms their support for Linux and Steam Deck and the development of EVERSPACE 2 continues. Fans can look forward to a native version for Linux and possible optimizations for the Steam Deck.
